With transport insurance from OCS Amsterdam, your shipments receive extra protection against damage and loss during transport. This cover can be added to our international express delivery, air freight and Road transport Europe services, so business customers can ship valuable goods with greater peace of mind.
What does our transport insurance cover?
Transport insurance through OCS Amsterdam provides additional cover on top of the standard transport of your goods. For each shipment, you can indicate the value you want to insure and the conditions under which the insurance applies.
We can offer cover for:
• Damage to your goods during loading and unloading.
• Damage or loss caused by incidents during road, air or express transport.
• Theft or loss of the shipment.
This gives your valuable goods extra protection during transport.
How do you arrange transport insurance through OCS Amsterdam?
If you want to insure your shipment, let us know when you submit your request or contact our customer service team. Briefly describe what you are shipping, the destination, the service used and the insured value you require.
In practice, the process works as follows:
1. You indicate in your request or quotation request that you want transport insurance.
2. Our customer service team assesses, for each shipment, whether transport insurance is possible and under which conditions.
3. You receive a clear quotation showing the insurance costs separately.
4. Once you approve the quotation, the insurance is requested and linked to your shipment.
This way, you know in advance where you stand and which goods will be transported with extra cover.
Questions about transport insurance
Short answers to the most common questions about cover and costs for your shipment.
No. Your shipment is not automatically fully insured through OCS Amsterdam. Standard transport of goods only includes limited liability, and full insurance is not included in the freight price. Additional insurance only applies if you request it in advance and OCS Amsterdam confirms it in the quotation or order confirmation.
To apply for transport insurance, we need the following basic information:
• a brief description of the goods
• the destination country and delivery location
• the selected service, such as international express delivery, air freight or Road transport Europe
• the insured value required
If your shipment is fragile or has an unusually high value, please state this clearly in your request.
Insurance only applies to goods and cannot be used to insure important documents.
The cost of transport insurance is always listed separately in your quotation or price proposal, in addition to the regular freight costs. This clearly shows which part of the total amount is for transport and which part is for the additional insurance before you decide whether to accept the quotation.
